Welcome to SuperSmiles pediatric dental office, where we provide specialized dentistry for children and adolescents in a child-friendly environment. As pediatric dentists, we focus on preventive care to help each child have a healthy smile that will last a lifetime.
Dr. Juarez
"Dr. Patty", grew up in Miami, FL. She attended Boston University and graduated in 1994. Following her graduation, she attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and received her D.M.D. degree in 1998. She always knew she wanted to be around children and decided to pursue Pediatric Dentistry. Her post graduate pediatric dental training was completed at Boston University School of Dental Medicine in June 2000. This specialty training gave her much insight into understanding children's fears and emotions. After graduating, she moved to Philadelphia, PA. She worked at Dr. Bresler's Cavity Busters for one year. She then moved to Long Island, NY. She worked at Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry for eight years.
She is happily married to Dr. Kevin Martin, an Endodontist, practicing in Commack. When she is not in the office, she is a busy mom caring for her 3 children, Liliana (11 yo), Kevin (9 yo), and Daniella (7 yo).
"I want you to know that I will treat your child as if he/she were my own. I take great pride in my work and always strive to provide the best quality care possible. My goal is to have every child enjoy coming to the dentist. Ultimately, I want them leaving my office with a smile on their face."

Dr. Kourtsounis
Dr. Kourtsounis or “Dr. K” is a pediatric dentist originally from Long Island. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998. After graduation, he returned to Maryland where his family had moved and was accepted into the top ranked University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2003.
Upon graduation, Dr. Kourtsounis moved up to New York City and completed a General Practice Residency at the St. Luke’s/ Roosevelt Hospital Center. He served as chief his one year there.
After completion of his GPR, Dr. Kourtsounis worked in private practice for two years in both Manhattan and Brooklyn, focusing on pediatric dentistry.
In 2006, Dr. Kourtsounis was accepted into the pediatric dentistry specialty at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He served as chief resident and helped author various publications, which appeared in local and nationwide dental journals.
Upon completion of his training in 2008, Dr. Kourtsounis opened Smiles for Kids in Whitestone. In 2011, Smiles for Kids in Ronkonkoma was opened.
Dr. Kourtsounis has continued to stay on at Mount Sinai as an attending faculty and has dedicated his free time to teaching at the residency and performing dental rehabilitation cases in the operating room under general anesthesia.
He is very active in the community and volunteers regularly, giving seminars to various pre-schools in the area on dental prevention, hygiene, and diet.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the New York State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Kourtsounis and his wife have a six-year-old son who is also very interested in becoming a dentist like his dad. He is a diehard Chicago Blackhawks and NHL fan, and a car enthusiast who enjoys racing his car on the weekends

Dr. Francis
Dr. Shawn is a New York native. He was born in Queens, NY and later moved to Long Island. He received his undergraduate degree from New York University where he graduated with honors. Dr. Shawn then made his way to Columbia University where he earned his dental degree. At his graduation he was recognized for outstanding promise in the field of pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Shawn completed his pediatric specialty training at Albert Einstein/Montefiore including those with special health care needs. Dr. Shawn looks forward to helping you and your children maintain good oral health. He believes in working with families to create a positive dental experience and catering to each child’s individual needs. He is not only committed to helping children here in his own community, but Dr. Shawn has served on two mission trips to Guatemala where he helped treat thousands of children in need of dental care.
When Dr. Shawn isn’t at the office, he spends his time exploring and traveling with his wife, training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, practicing yoga, listening to podcasts or reading a good book.
Dr. Permaul
Dr. Jenna Permaul pursued a career in pediatric dentistry because of her passion to provide a positive dental environment for children. She believes in fostering healthy oral practices with every family that she encounters and strives to provide patient-centered care.
Dr. Jenna grew up in Queens, NY. She attended Adelphi University, where she was accepted into a 7-year joint BS-DDS degree program with New York University College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Jenna furthered her education by completing a post-doctoral training in the specialty of pediatric dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Jenna received extensive training in oral sedation, general anesthesia, behavior management techniques, and treating children with special health care needs.
Today, Dr. Jenna loves that she can give back and treat the children of Queens and Long Island, both communities close to her heart. Dr. Jenna aims to make her patients comfortable and less anxious through her behavior management skills, kindness, and compassion. Aside from private practice, Dr. Jenna is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Jenna values the importance of mentorship and education for the new generation of practitioners.
Dr. Jenna Permaul currently resides in Long Island, NY. She loves to spend her time exploring all the restaurants New York City has to offer with her fiancé.
Dr. Pouyafar
Dr. Kimia Pouyafar is a passionate pediatric dentist who grew up in Nassau County, Long Island. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Adelphi University.
Dr. Pouyafar attended New York University College of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Her love for children led her to specialize in pediatric dentistry, and she completed her residency at New York University College of Dentistry.
As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Pouyafar strives to create a positive experience for every child she treats. She understands that visiting the dentist can be a scary experience for young patients, so she takes the time to make them feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Pouyafar is passionate about promoting optimal oral health and helping her patients take control of their dental care. She is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in pediatric dentistry and attending continuing education courses to expand her knowledge and skills. She is also an active member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
When she is not working, Dr. Pouyafar loves spending time outdoors, skiing, and exploring new places. She also enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes in her spare time. Dr. Pouyafar likes playing piano and listening to music to unwind after a busy day at work.
Dr. Williamson
Dr. Williamson grew up just outside of Boston, MA. She attended Brandeis University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Health: Science, Society, and Policy. In the summer after her freshman year of college, Dr. Williamson participated in the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program at Columbia University, which ignited her passions for education, public health, mentorship, and community outreach.
After graduating college, Dr. Williamson went on to attend dental school at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, she completed a dual degree program where she simultaneously earned her Master of Arts degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her diverse background in education and mentorship encouraged her to start her own nonprofit organization, Black Mentor Network.
After dental school, she completed a general practice residency at Harlem Hospital Center, followed by her pediatric dental specialty residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Williamson absolutely loves working with kids each and every day. She is especially dedicated to educating children and families on the importance of preventative care and building healthy habits. She enjoys listening to her patients and working with them to create positive and fun dental visits.
Dr. Williamson is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to new countries, and discovering amazing restaurants across New York City.
